Fleur de Lys Floral & Gifts opened in 2001 as a neighborhood gift shop. With the addition of Mrs. Ford-Chatfield in 2003, the shop transitioned and began the climb to recognition as the best floral shop in New Haven for 2006-2011. Jennifer purchased the business she helped build and continues to grow and expand it in the New Haven area and surrounding communities. “High quality product, unique and customized designs and a priority of customer service satisfaction is the motto here. We represent human emotion on all levels and are constantly challenging ourselves to meet the demands of our clientele.”

Owner and Lead Designer, Jennifer Ford-Chatfield grew up with a love of gardening from her Mother and a love for planning events from shadowing her Aunt Nancy who spent years planning events for the Metropolitan YMCA. Her floral and event planning career began 23 years ago in her home state of Iowa. In 1998, she moved to Nashville, TN where she worked for the top floral business in the area. Specializing in high end and cutting edge design, Jennifer has received multiple awards, had her work published and became the lead designer for many large corporations and celebrities. Among her larger clientele were Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center, The Grand Ole Opry, RCA Records, Gaylord Entertainment, The Sound Kitchen Recording Studios and Governor Don Sundquist. In January of 2003, Jennifer moved to Connecticut and after freelancing in Manhattan, took Fleur de Lys from a gift shop to the premier florist in New Haven. She purchased Fleur de Lys in January 2007 and continues to grow and expand it further with the expansion of the Westbrook shop in Jan 2010. She is an active Board of Directors Member of the Friends of Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital as well as The Board of Directors for the Connecticut Floral Association. She is an active supporter of her community with work in multiple children’s charities as well as cancer related charities. She is a proud Breast Cancer survivor.

In 2000, Jorge Uribe, Floral Manager, moved to the United States from his native country of Colombia and joined the Fleur de Lys Team in 2006. His work and creative experience is well rounded. From beautiful and creative floral design to wonderful painting, photography and graphic design, he is a wonderful additional to the Fleur de Lys Team. He has won multiple awards for his designs and is an invaluable member of the staff. His graphic design experience has helped the company with it’s website, photography and marketing tools.

Alexandra Mucha, Executive Assistant, joined the Fleur de Lys team in 2007 with excellent customer service skills acquired both in the flower business and in the restaurant industry. She is a welcome addition in our business where customer service is of the up most importance and is often seen meeting with Bride’s in our New Haven location.
